County of Santa Cruz Low Income Senior and Disabled
Property Tax Postponement Pilot Program (PTP)

The Housing Authority of the County of Santa Cruz administers the Low Income Senior and Disabled Property Tax Postponement pilot program on behalf of the County of Santa Cruz.  The property tax postponement program, or PTP, will enable eligible homeowners in the unincorporated areas of the County to postpone payment of part or all of the property taxes on their residence.  This program is only applicable to areas in the un-incorporated areas of the County and does not apply to the cities of Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley, Watsonville, or Capitola.  Please note that limited funding is available.

To qualify, a homeowner must meet all of the following criteria:

• Be at least 62 years of age, blind, or disabled;

• County as his or her principal place of residence:

• Have a total household income of $35,500 or less; and,

• Have at least 20% equity in the property.

To apply for the program, a homeowner must:

ü    Complete an application form;

ü    Attach all of the required documentation;

ü    Include with the documentation a copy of his or her most recent property tax bill and income tax return with all W-2’s, 1099’s and Schedules;

ü    Include a check or money order in the amount of $200 made payable to the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Cruz.  Applications submitted without the required fee will not be considered “received”.
